FAQ
Questions, answered in one place
Grouped by what you are trying to do. If your question is not here, a named engineer will answer it directly — see talk to sales.
§ 01Getting started
Getting started
- How do I create an account?
- Sign up in the dashboard with a work email. There is no approval wait for a self-serve account and no monthly minimum to agree to — you can fund your wallet and place your first order right away.
- How do I fund my wallet?
- Fund your wallet by card or bank transfer and each order draws down from it. No monthly minimum, and nothing charged between orders. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, to fund your wallet. Card details never reach our systems. SEPA, SWIFT, and domestic ACH, to fund your wallet or settle an invoice.
- How do I place my first order?
- Choose a product and order the quantity you need — the minimum is 1 GB or 1 IP. There is no monthly minimum on any line: fund your wallet, place an order, and nothing is billed in between orders.
- Where do I find my credentials and gateway endpoints?
- Once an order is active, its gateway endpoint and credentials appear on that order in the dashboard. Authentication on the proxy networks is by user:pass or ip allowlist.
- Which protocols and authentication methods are supported?
- Every proxy network runs HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5. Residential and mobile authenticate by user:pass or ip allowlist. The Scraper, SERP, and Unblocker APIs (coming soon) authenticate by api key instead.
- Is there a free trial?
- ISP and datacenter include a 7-day paid trial before you commit to a term. Residential and mobile have no monthly minimum, so you can order from 1 GB and pay only for what you use while you evaluate.
- What about the Scraper, SERP, and Unblocker APIs?
- Scraper API, SERP API, Unblocker API are coming soon. They are not yet on general sale and are not priced — talk to sales to be notified when they open.
§ 02Products
Products
- How is ProxyForge different from other proxy providers?
- Two things. Every address carries a chain-of-custody record you can request at any time, naming the partner it came through, the disclosure the peer saw, and the audit cycle that reviewed it. And all four networks — residential, ISP, datacenter, mobile — run behind one gateway on one contract, so you are not integrating three vendors to cover three jobs.
- What's the difference between the four proxy networks?
- Residential — Consented peer addresses across 190+ countries, billed by traffic. ISP — Static addresses issued by consumer ISPs, hosted on our hardware. Datacenter — Dedicated addresses in our own ranges, announced from our own ASN. Mobile — Carrier-assigned addresses on 3G, 4G, and 5G, billed by traffic.
§ 03Pricing and billing
Pricing and billing
- Do you offer a free trial?
- ISP and datacenter come with a paid trial before you commit to a term. Residential and mobile have no separate trial: there is no monthly minimum, so you can order from 1 GB and pay only for what you use while you evaluate.
- What happens when a spend cap is reached?
- Traffic stops. Requests return a documented error rather than continuing to bill, and the account owner is notified immediately. Overage is opt-in and off by default, so a runaway job costs you a job rather than a quarter.
- Will my rate change?
- Not inside a contract term. If we change published pricing, existing contracts hold their rate until renewal and you receive 90 days' notice. There is no introductory rate that reverts, because there is no introductory rate.
- How do volume tiers apply?
- Automatically, at the quantity you order. You do not commit to a tier in advance and there is nothing to claim. Order 1,000 GB of residential traffic in one order and you are billed at the 1,000 GB rate for that order.
- How is a gigabyte measured?
- Total bytes over the wire in both directions, including request and response headers, rounded to the megabyte. We publish this because the definition varies between providers and it materially changes what a rate means.
- Is there a discount for a longer commitment?
- Yes, on ISP and datacenter: choosing a longer term at checkout takes up to 20% off the volume rate, on top of any quantity discount already earned. Residential and mobile are metered with no term to choose, so there is no equivalent for them.
§ 04Sourcing and compliance
Sourcing and compliance
- Where do your IP addresses come from?
- Residential and mobile addresses come from peers who opted in through partner applications and are compensated for it. ISP addresses are leased directly from consumer internet providers under commercial contracts. Datacenter addresses are ranges we hold registrations for and announce from our own ASN. We do not buy pools from brokers, and where we cannot establish how an address was acquired, we do not sell access to it.
- Can I get a DPA and security documentation before signing?
- Yes. The data processing addendum, standard contractual clauses, sub-processor list, and sourcing attestation are all available at evaluation stage, the last under NDA. SOC 2 Type II is in its observation window with the report expected in Q1 2027.
§ 05Switching providers
Switching providers
- Do I have to cancel my current provider to start?
- No. The parallel period exists precisely so you do not have to. Your current contract stays in place until your own measurements justify moving, and we do not ask for a termination notice as a condition of starting.
- Will I have to change my code?
- Usually not. We mirror your existing endpoint structure, session syntax, and authentication format on our gateway, so the change is a hostname and a credential. Where a parameter has no equivalent on our side, we tell you in writing before you start rather than dropping it silently at runtime.
- How long does a migration take?
- The map comes back in two business days and the gateway is ready within four. The parallel period runs as long as you want it to; most teams reach a decision inside three weeks because that is how long it takes to gather comparable numbers.
- What does the parallel period cost?
- You pay published per-order rates for whatever you actually send us — there is no monthly minimum to waive in the first place. Migration engineering itself is not billed.
§ 06Account and support
Account and support
- How do I reach support?
- Email [email protected]. Every product includes a named engineer for support rather than a ticket queue; first-response commitments are published per product on the products page.
- Do you support single sign-on?
- SAML 2.0 against any compliant identity provider, with SCIM provisioning so leavers lose access when your directory says so, not when someone remembers.
- Can I control what my teammates can do?
- Roles scoped per sub-account. Separate the person who can raise a spend cap from the person who can read traffic logs.
- Can I separate credentials and spend caps by team or project?
- Independent credentials, targeting defaults, and spend caps per team or per project, invoiced together and reported separately.
- Is there an audit log of administrative actions?
- Every administrative action — credential issue, cap change, allowlist edit — recorded with actor and timestamp. Exportable, retained 12 months.
- Do I get a named contact?
- Accounts above $5,000 per month get a named engineer and a 24/7 escalation path with a real phone bridge.
- How do I report abuse?
- Reports get a human, a case number, and a deadline. Abuse reports reach a staffed queue, not a form that disappears. Each gets a case number and an acknowledgement within four hours. We can attribute traffic to an account and, where a report is substantiated, suspend it — most providers can do the first and are slow to do the second. Suspension decisions and their outcomes are logged, and the aggregate numbers appear in each audit cycle. Reports go to [email protected].
- Who do I contact for compliance or privacy questions?
- Compliance: [email protected]. Privacy: [email protected].
Still have a question?
Send it to a named engineer rather than a form that disappears into a queue. Most replies come back the same business day.
One business day, from a named engineer.
